PAK: 191-10

This looks like another one-sided encounter looming for Pakistan against India in World Cups. Rohit's innings has been the highlight of indian batting. Indian captain is carrying on from his excellent performance against Afghanistan.

PAK: 191-10

IND: 79-2 (10)

Soft Dismissal! Virat Kohli gets out trying to pull Hasan Ali over mid on. India two down after 10.

PAK: 191-10

IND: 63-1 (7.4)

The duo of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have offered India a blistering start in the mouth-watering contest here at Narendra Modi stadium, Ahmedabad. Rohit has hit two sixes in his innings so far.

PAK: 191-10

IND: 23-1 (3 Over)

Afridi gets his first of the match. Gill was looking good before he smashed one straight to the point. India one down.

PAK: 191-10

IND: 22-0 (2 Over)

Gill looks in a hurry to wrap this game up. The leading ODI runs scorer in 2023 marks his retun with 4 stellar boundaries, with 3 coming off against Hasan Ali.

PAK: 191-10

IND: 10-0 (1 OVer)

Both, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill are off the mark with boundaries against Shaheen Afridi.

Ravindra Jadeja takes his first, Hasan Ali goes for 12. This can get over in no time. Tossed up in the middle, Hasan Ali attempted a slog sweep, but the slow pitch played a part. The ball took the top-edge, shooting skyward. Gill positioned himself under it and held on without any trouble. India are all over Pakistan!

PAK: 189-9 (41 Overs)

Hardik Pandya gets his second of the match, Nawaz goes for 4. pakistan in trouble.

PAK: 187-8 (40)

Pakistan lose another. Bumrah does it again! Shadab Khan is left in disbelief as he falls victim to another exceptional delivery. Shadab Khan was caught on his crease, attempting to fend inside the line. The ball skillfully evaded the outside edge and struck the top of the off-stump. India on Top!

PAK: 172-7 (36 Overs)

Pakistan are all over the place. Jasprit Bumrah bowls out the set batter Rizwan for 49. Rizwan, deceived by the lack of pace, couldn't react in time. The ball cut back in, narrowly missing the inside edge and crashing into the off-stump. What a comeback from India!

PAK: 169-6 (35 Overs)

Kuldeep Yadav delivers another blow to Pakistan, taking two wickets in one over. The ball was tossed up outside the leg stump with a lot of spin. Iftikhar Ahmed attempted a sweep but mistimed it, resulting in bowled. Two for Chinaman!

PAK: 166-5 (33 Overs)

Kuldeep Yadav takes the wicket of the Saud Shakeel, his first of the match.  A well-flighted delivery on leg-stump had Shakeel on the back foot. It dipped and spun, eluding the bat and leaving Shakeel plumb in front. Despite the appeal, technology confirmed the decision with three reds on Hawkeye, and there was no spike on UltraEdge. Quick Wickets For India!

Babar Azam departs after scoring his first fifty against India. It was a good knock from Pakistan captain which came to an end. PAK 155/3 (29.4)

FOUR!! Is that a drop catch from Hardik Pandya? Just landed short in front of him as Babar collects a boundary. A bouncer but Babar plays it nicely. FOUR!! 13 off the over.

Four runs off Jadeja's over as Kuldeep Yadav will continue for another over. Credit to both Babar and Rizwan as they have played spin considerably well than before.

Pakistan have maintained a healthy run-rate of 5. Both Babar and Rizwan are loooking to fetch singles and doubles in order to keep the pressure off.

A good one for Pakistan as they break the deadlock. Nine runs came off it including two boundaries.

Make no mistake, this is an incredible track to bat on. Considering that, India have bowled really well. Hardik Pandya brought back into the attack.

Kuldeep was brought straight into the attack for Babar Azam. He bowled a good one before conceding a boundary in the last ball. Eight runs came off it.

Wicket! There's the first success and Siraj gets it out of nowhere. The ball kept a bit low and was enough to caught Shafique in front. There was a short break Siraj took as he was having a discussion with the skipper. May be a bit of lapse in concentration for Shafique and couldn't do much on that. Pakistan lose first wicket as he departs for 20.

This has been a cautious start from the Pakistani openers. However, a great maiden over from Bumrah. All deliveries were on point.

A good first over for both sides. Bumrah bowled good first five deliveries before conceding the boundary in the last ball.

We also wanted to bowl first. We have had good two wins, momentum and confidence is high. Jam-packed stadium, we will enjoy it. We want to be good in the field, we had a couple of good practice sessions. Same team for us.

"We will bowl first, cannot get bigger than this, fantastic atmosphere. Sure lot of us are going to experience something really extraordinary. It's a good track, not going to change much, dew could be a big factor and keeping that in mind, we want to bowl first. We want to keep striving for the best, we want to come out there and give our best in every game. Keeping the atmosphere in the team relaxed is the most important thing in a tournament like this. Gill is back in place of Ishan, unfortunate for Ishan to miss out, feel for him, he stepped up when we needed him. Gill has been a special player for us over the past year or so, especially at this ground and we wanted him back."

Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first. Shubman Gill is back in the team as he replaced Ishan Kishan.

The pre-match ceremony will not be televised as it is only for the fans present inside the stadium.

“We have always talked about how Pakistan’s batting is their weaker link and bowling their strength. But ahead of the match against India, I feel it’s the other way around. There are a few issues with Pakistan’s bowling which started from the Asia Cup. I think they have to improve here even for the games going ahead. Shaheen (Afridi) is not bowling well, it’s as simple as that. I don’t think he has an injured finger. He is struggling to find his rhythm and has struggled to find his form since the Asia Cup game in Kandy. So that’s a worry.”

"First up, the key battle is going to be between the opening batter and the bowler. So, Shaheen Shah Afridi and Rohit Sharma is going to be a key battle because the manner in which Rohit Sharma is playing fearless cricket. And especially the last time India played against Pakistan, he had taken the attack to them along with Shubman Gill, and they really charged at the all the 3 pacers scoring at a fast pace in those first 10 overs. So, if India do end up having a wonderful start like that again, then pressure will be on the Pakistan bowlers from the start. Having spoken about the Sharma-Afridi match-up, another key battle is between Virat Kohli and Haris Rauf, because Haris Rauf bowls a very good short ball at good pace, that battle would also be good to watch. And also when their batters come out to bat, it would be exciting to watch if Kuldeep Yadav is able to take Babar Azam’s wicket.”

The India vs Pakistan game will have a pre-match ceremony where the likes of star Indian musical artists Arijit Singh, Sukhwinder Singh and Shankar Mahadevan will be performing.

"I didn't get the captaincy because of a match and I will not lose it because of a match." - Babar Azam

India stand in the third position with two wins and four points (NRR: +1.500)

Pakistan stand in the fourth position with two wins and four points (NRR: +0.927)

Both teams are undefeated in the tournament so far, having won their respective first two matches.

India vs Australia: India won by six wickets

India vs Afghanistan: India won by eight wickets

Pakistan vs Netherlands: Pakistan won by 81 runs

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka: Pakistan won by six wickets

India defeated Afghanistan by eight wickets.

Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka by six wickets.

"I don't think there is any disadvantage. You feel nice about playing in front of your home crowd. They get behind you no matter what the situation of the game is. My overall experience playing, not just in India, even outside India, we get massive support. So, I have so far never experienced where the crowd has gone against us or anything like that."

The inclusion of the star batter Shubman Gill is still unclear as it remains doubtful whether he is a match-fit for the all-important clash, having just recovered from Dengue. However, the skipper Rohit Sharma said that the possibility of Gill playing against Pakistan is 99 percent. Notably, Gill missed India's first two matches against Australia and Sri Lanka.

The Men in Blue might take field considering the game against Pakistan just another fixture but much more will be at stake including their winning streak in the ODI World Cups. In the seven outings between both teams in the marquee tournament, India have emerged victorious in all of them. They will be looking to extend in as they prepare to make it big in the tournament eyeing to end the wait for an ICC trophy at home this year.
