India vs South Africa 3rd T20I: Shubman Gill scored 28 runs in as many balls during the third T20I between India and South Africa at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday, December 15. India have taken a 2-1 lead in the ongoing five-match series, having won the match by 7 wickets.
Shubman added 60 runs in 5.2 overs for the first wicket with Abhishek Sharma (35 runs from 18 balls) and 32 runs for the second wicket with Tilak Varma (25 runs from 34 balls). During his stay at the crease, Gill hammered five fours and went on to become the highest run-scorer in international cricket in 2025. Gill, who is the captain of India’s Test and ODI team, has amassed a total of 1764 runs in 35 matches played so far this year across formats.

In 2025, Gill scored 983 runs in 16 innings of nine Test matches, and in ODIs, he got a total of 490 runs in 11 matches. Gill’s numbers in T20Is have been disappointing this year. In 15 matches, he has only managed to score 291 runs and failed to reach the 50-run mark even once. Abhishek Sharma is India’s highest run-getter in T20Is in 2025. The left-handed opener has scored 825 runs in 20 20-over matches played so far this year.
Gill will play as many as two more international matches in 2025, and he has a great chance to finish as the highest run getter in 2025. The second-placed batter Shai Hope will also play one international match for the West Indies in 2025.
Talking about the match, South Africa were put into bat first and were bowled out for 117 in their 20 overs. Arshdeep Singh, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakravarthy and Kuldeep Yadav picked up two wickets each.
