As the T20 World Cup approaches in June, the cricketing world is gearing up for the shortest format, and teams are adjusting their focus accordingly. For India, the series against South Africa in Paarl holds less significance in the broader context, with T20s taking center stage for the next eight months.

The Men in Blue's next ODI assignment is not until July 2024 when they travel to Sri Lanka. Surprisingly, this series will be the only ODI action for the Indian team throughout the year, according to the men's Future Tours Programme (FTP). The limited number of ODIs reflects the reduced emphasis on the 50-over format in the team's schedule.

In 2024, the cricketing calendar for India is divided into two halves, with T20s occupying the first part and Tests dominating the second. The team is set to play two five-Test series against England and Australia, both at home and away, along with four World Test Championship (WTC) series.

After the T20 World Cup in June, India will have a rare break in August, with no international series scheduled for that month. The upcoming schedule includes T20Is against Afghanistan, participation in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the T20 World Cup, three T20Is against Sri Lanka, and six T20Is against Bangladesh.
