IND vs NZ: India's star wicketkeeper batter Rishabh Pant was seen reeling in pain and had left the field as he got injured in a training session on Saturday, and that ruled him out of this series. A video had now gone viral from that training session where Pant got that blow, which ended his stint even before this series began.

The incident occurred at a practice session before the first ODI, as Pant had felt some discomfort on the right side when he was batting. The team's doctor attended to him as the injury required more assessment.

The scans showed that Pant had suffered a right-sided abdominal strain along with an internal oblique muscle tear. Because of this, he has been ruled out of this series.

Pant's injury is a huge blow for the host since he is their preferred wicketkeeper-batter. Post a short rest, Pant will head directly to the Centre of Excellence for rehab and more assessment.

After Pant got ruled out, the selectors picked Dhruv Jurel as his replacement before the series opener. Jurel will aim to perform well in this series.

This injury has added more problems to Pant's already short ODI career in recent years. He last played for India in 2024 against Sri Lanka and has gotten few chances since then.
