New Zealand Tour Of India: India's ODI squad is likely to witness a shake-up as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is reportedly set to drop star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant for the upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand, as per a report in Sports Tak.
The ODI team will face the Black Caps from January 11 to 18, with matches scheduled in Vadodara, Rajkot, and Indore.
As per a report in Sports Tak on Sunday, Pant looks set to be axed from India's ODI squad for the season's final home series.
Pant, currently leading Delhi in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, was India's second-choice wicketkeeper-batter against South Africa, but sat out all three ODIs. His last ODI appearance for India was on August 7, 2024, against Sri Lanka in Colombo.
India's ODI squad for the New Zealand series is expected to be revealed by the BCCI selectors this week.
In a notable reshuffle, Ishan Kishan is likely to be recalled to India's ODI squad after over two years, having made a strong case for his inclusion with his impressive domestic form. His last ODI appearance for India came in October 2023.
Kishan's stellar form earned him India's T20 World Cup 2026 selection. He was the highest scorer in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, led Jharkhand to their maiden crown, and continued his run in the Vijay Hazare Trophy with a 33-ball century vs Karnataka.
