IPL 2026: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has reportedly issued a fresh set of instructions for the Indian Premier League (IPL) teams, instructing them on dos and don’ts they need to follow on their match eve and match days during the upcoming season.

According to media reports, notable among them is the rule which the players have to ditch the casual "floppies and sleeveless jerseys" for post-match presentations; a first-time slip-up will receive a warning, and a repeat offence will cost them a financial penalty.

Players are being asked to ditch their personal vehicles for team buses when heading to practice, while family members are being asked to keep a distance, watching from the hospitality area instead of tagging along.

In the guidelines, the players are being asked to sport orange and purple caps, at least for the first two overs, till the cameras stop clicking.

Teams will be allotted two nets in the practice place, along with a side wicket on the main square for range hitting. At Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium, contemporary practice sessions will see teams dividing resources, with each getting two wickets.

In the other listed rules, the practice session will be strictly regulated. The teams cannot take any vacant wicket. The open nets are a no-go for any team, and the match-day practice is off-limits, which means teams cannot practice on the game day. The main square is also off-bounds for fitness tests on game days – all to preserve the pitch.

If there is any potential change in the jersey number, the team have to inform the BCCI at least 24 hours in advance.
