Australian cricketer Travis Head’s wife Jessica has claimed that she and her family have been receiving abusive messages on social media after Head’s on-field clash with Indian star Virat Kohli during an IPL match.

What happened between Travis Head and Virat Kohli?

The incident took place during the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Hyderabad last Friday. SRH defeated RCB by 55 runs in a high-scoring encounter.

During RCB’s chase of 256, Head and Kohli were involved in a heated exchange on the field. Reports suggested that Head tried to provoke Kohli by asking him to play more attacking shots. Kohli responded with a sarcastic gesture, mocking Head’s role as an Impact Player and asking him to come down and bowl instead of talking from the outfield.

Interestingly, Head later bowled an over in the match and even dismissed RCB captain Rajat Patidar. However, by then, Kohli had already lost his wicket.

Kohli refused to shake hands with Travis Head

After the match, another moment caught attention when Kohli appeared to avoid the customary handshake with Head during the post-match greetings. The video quickly went viral on social media and sparked strong reactions from fans.

Jessica calls out online trolling after the incident

Speaking to The Adelaide Advertiser, Jessica said the online trolling reminded her of the abuse their family faced after the 2023 ODI World Cup final, where Head scored a match-winning 137 against India.

“It feels like a repeat of the abuse that happened after the World Cup,” Jessica said. “I woke up to my socials blasting. We are fine, but people are targeting my friends and family as well.”

Head had played a crucial role in Australia’s World Cup triumph in 2023, earning the Player of the Match award for his brilliant century in the final against India.
