The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) witnessed a lot of drama when Virat Kohli was batting, but after the match, Kohli and Travis Head were involved in an awkward post-match moment that quickly grabbed attention online.

After SRH secured a dominating 55-run win, players from both teams lined up for the customary handshakes. During the exchange, Travis Head stretched out his hand towards Kohli, seemingly trying to move on from the heated moments they shared during the match. But Kohli ignored the gesture and walked past without shaking hands.

What happened between Virat Kohli and Travis Head?

The incident came after a tense exchange between the two during RCB’s chase. Kohli, who struggled to make an impact with the bat, scored only 15 runs off 11 balls before being dismissed by SRH youngster Sakib Hussain.

Before his dismissal, Head appeared to challenge Kohli to play more attacking shots. Kohli responded sharply, telling the Australian opener that since he was not going to be substituted out, he should come and bowl himself.

Travis Head's Instagram Story

Soon after the match, Head shared a cryptic story on his official Instagram account. The post read: “Keep the body guessing.” The message quickly went viral, with many fans wondering whether it was linked to the no-handshake moment with Kohli.

On-field banter is nothing unusual in cricket, but the tension between the two players seemed to continue even after Kohli’s dismissal. Reports suggested that Head made another comment while Kohli was walking back to the pavilion, adding more heat to the exchange.

The biggest talking point, however, came after the match. Cameras clearly showed Head offering a handshake, while Kohli looked away and walked straight past him. Interestingly, Kohli continued greeting other SRH players warmly, including captain Pat Cummins, making the moment with Head stand out even more.

How RCB ended on top despite SRH defeat?

However, despite losing the match, the Bengaluru-based franchise finished on top of the points table. RCB finished on top of the standings with a net run rate of +0.783. Gujarat Titans ended second with +0.695, while SRH stayed third with +0.524. All three teams finished with 18 points.
