Bangladesh T20I captain Litton Das has found himself in trouble after being called before the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) disciplinary committee over an alleged breach of rules for centrally contracted players.

The wicketkeeper-batter has been asked to explain reports that he travelled to China without informing the board or taking permission from the BCB while he was recovering from a calf injury. According to reports, the board wants to understand the situation before deciding whether any disciplinary action should be taken.

Litton Das Injured

Litton has been out of action since picking up the injury during Bangladesh’s ODI series against Australia. The injury ruled him out of the following Test series as well. He also pulled out of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) despite returning to the Bangladesh squad for the ODI series against Zimbabwe.

Reports suggest Litton was supposed to travel to Singapore on July 20 for a specialist check-up on his calf injury. However, BCB officials were reportedly unhappy after learning that he had travelled to China after the Zimbabwe series without informing them. The board considers this a possible violation of the rules for centrally contracted players.

A BCB source told Cricbuzz, “He (Litton) went to China, which the board didn’t take well. The board called him and asked him why and with whose permission."

Litton appeared before the disciplinary committee on Sunday and gave his explanation. The BCB is now discussing the matter with its medical committee to confirm the details before making a final decision.

The issue comes at an important time for Bangladesh cricket, with the team’s possible tour of India reportedly nearing final approval. Meanwhile, their upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan is also expected to be rescheduled.
