Lucknow Super Giants have been dealt a major blow ahead of their final league game of IPL 2026, as Australian all-rounder Mitchell Marsh will miss Saturday’s clash against Punjab Kings.
As per reports from ESPNcricinfo, Marsh is unavailable for the match, although the exact reason behind his absence has not been revealed yet.
Marsh's performance for LSG in IPL 2026
Marsh has been one of the biggest positives for LSG in an otherwise disappointing season. The team failed to make the playoffs once again, but the Australian batter consistently delivered strong performances with the bat.

The 34-year-old is currently LSG’s highest run-scorer this season, scoring 563 runs in 13 innings. His impressive campaign includes two centuries and three half-centuries. In comparison, captain Rishabh Pant is the team’s second-highest scorer with 286 runs from 12 innings.
While there has been no official update on Marsh’s absence, he is expected to captain Australia in the upcoming ODI series against Pakistan, which begins on May 30 in Rawalpindi.

PBKS IPL Playoffs qualification scenario
For LSG, the final match is a chance to end their season with a win and some pride. On the other hand, PBKS are still fighting to stay alive in the playoff race. A defeat would knock them out of contention.
Even if Punjab manage to win, their qualification will still depend on other results, with Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals also competing for the remaining playoff spots.
