Afghanistan have announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming five-match ODI series against Ireland, with veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi missing out on selection.
The selectors have recalled left-arm fast bowler Fazalhaq Farooqi, while Yamin Ahmadzai and Saleem Safi have also been included in the squad. On the other hand, Fareed Malik and Bilal Sami, who were part of Afghanistan’s tour of India last month, have been left out.
The series will mark a new chapter for Afghanistan as Rahmat Shah is set to captain the ODI side for the first time. Wicketkeeper-batter Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been named vice-captain.

The five-match series will begin on August 5 at Bready Cricket Club. The second ODI will also be played at the same venue on August 7. After that, both teams will travel to Belfast, where the remaining three matches will be held on August 10, 12 and 14.
