Former India batter Robin Uthappa has picked his all-time India ODI XI, but his choices have sparked discussion after he left out Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami.
Uthappa shared his team on Instagram as part of a “This or That” challenge. He went with the legendary opening pair of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly instead of including Rohit. Sachin remains India’s highest run-scorer in ODI cricket with 18,426 runs, while Ganguly scored 11,221 runs in 308 matches and was recently inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame.
Virat Kohli was an easy choice at No. 3. The former India captain is India’s second-highest run-scorer in ODIs and holds the record for the most centuries in the format with 54.

The middle order features Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina. Dhoni was also named captain of the side, with Uthappa backing the leader who guided India to the 2011 ODI World Cup title.
For the all-rounder’s spot, Uthappa picked Kapil Dev ahead of Hardik Pandya. In the spin department, he chose Ravindra Jadeja over Ravichandran Ashwin and included Anil Kumble as the frontline spinner ahead of Harbhajan Singh.

The pace attack was completed by Zaheer Khan and Jasprit Bumrah.
Two notable omissions from the XI were Rohit Sharma and Mohammed Shami. Rohit is India’s third-highest run-scorer in ODI history and one of the most successful opening batters the game has seen. Shami, meanwhile, has taken 206 ODI wickets and is India’s highest-wicket-taking active fast bowler in the format.
