Shai Hope continued his impressive run against India on Wednesday, October 14, as the West Indies captain struck another century in the fourth T20I of the five-match series at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. His unbeaten 102 powered the visitors to a formidable 247/3, while also helping him achieve a unique milestone in T20I cricket.

Hope became the first captain to register three fifty-plus scores in an away T20I bilateral series, reaching the landmark during the fourth T20I against India. His achievement placed him alongside Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan in an exclusive list of batters who have recorded three or more fifty-plus scores in a bilateral T20I series involving Full Member nations.

However, Kohli achieved the feat against England in 2021, Suryakumar against New Zealand in 2026 and Farhan against Sri Lanka in 2026, with all three doing so on home soil.

Shai Hope Joins Elite List With Second Century Of Series

Hope’s latest hundred was also his second century in the ongoing bilateral T20I series against India. He became the fifth batter to score multiple hundreds in a bilateral T20I series, joining Phil Salt, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma and Mohammad Ihsan on the list.

Salt registered two centuries against the West Indies in an away series in 2023, while Samson and Varma achieved the feat against South Africa in 2024. Spain’s Mohammad Ihsan also scored two hundreds against Croatia in 2025.

Hope is the latest addition to the list, having reached the milestone on India’s home turf in 2026.

Three T20I Hundreds, All With The Same Score

The West Indies skipper has also established a remarkable pattern in his T20I career. All three of his centuries in the format have come with an identical score of 102 not out.

Hope is now the leading century-maker for the West Indies in men’s T20I cricket, with three hundreds to his name. Chris Gayle and Evin Lewis follow him with two centuries each, while Johnson Charles and Rovman Powell have registered one apiece.

His latest knock further underlined his importance to the Caribbean side as they looked to post a commanding total against India.

Sherfane Rutherford Provides Strong Support

Hope anchored the innings with an unbeaten 102 off 50 deliveries, striking nine sixes and four boundaries. His innings provided the foundation for a big West Indies total, with Sherfane Rutherford delivering an equally important contribution towards the end.

Rutherford remained unbeaten on 49 from just 26 balls, hitting four fours and three sixes. He also benefited from a reprieve after Mayank Yadav dropped him on 42, allowing the left-hander to continue his aggressive approach.

India’s bowlers struggled to contain the West Indies batters, with Prince Yadav emerging as the most effective option. He finished with figures of 1/36 from his four overs as the visitors reached 247/3.
