Ex-India cricketer Abhinav Mukund has picked the best T20 XI, but he didn't include Kuldeep Yadav, who took the second-highest wickets for the Men in Blue in this format, and also fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah. He picked this team on Star Sports.

India's star opener Abhishek Sharma will open with Sri Lanka's Pathum Nissanka. Sharma had a dream run in the shortest format this year as he had scored 859 runs after playing in 21 matches at an average of 42.95 and a brilliant strike rate of 193.46.

Nissanka scored 625 runs after playing in 18 matches, at an average of 37.67 and a strike rate of just 150. Mukund then picked middle-order batters from No.3 to No.7 positions by including batters like Jos Buttler, Tilak Varma, Tim David, and Dewald Brevis.

Buttler had scored 480 runs after playing in 15 matches, at an average of 34.28 and a strike rate of 164.38. Tilak too played consistently in this format this year as he batted at an average of 47.25 and a strike rate of 129.15 after playing in 20 matches.

Tim David too had a dream run as he batted at an average of 49.37 and at a strike rate of 197.5 after playing in 14 matches. Mukund’s T20I XI didn't have Mitchell Marsh, who was Australia's highest run-getter this year.

Brevis batted at an average of 30.93 and at a brilliant strike rate of 176.42 after playing in 17 matches.

Mukund picked Hardik Pandya as his No.7 player, who had scored more than 300 runs at a brilliant average of 33.55 and a strike rate of 153.29, and he also took 12 wickets.

Mukund's bowling attack consisted of Asian players like Mohammad Nawaz, Mustafizur Rahman, and Varun Chakravarthy. Nawaz had taken 36 wickets this year at an average of 13.61 and at an economy of 6.56 after playing in 25 T20Is.

Mustafizur was in sublime form in this format this year as he had taken 26 wickets at a staggering average of 17.65 and at an economy rate of 6 after playing in 20 matches. Chakravarthy, at the same time, gave the batsmen a hard time as he has taken 36 wickets at a brilliant average of 13.19 and an economy of 7.

Mukund ended his best T20I XI of this year by picking Jacob Duffy, who has taken 35 wickets at a brilliant average of 15 after playing in 15 matches.
