PAK vs BAN 2nd ODI: A fresh perspective has emerged in the spirit-of-cricket debate following a controversial incident in the 2nd ODI between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Dhaka. Salman Ali Agha’s run-out, initiated by Mehidy Hasan Miraz, led to a heated exchange between both skippers. This incident prompted discussions on sportsmanship.
One player in this match chose not to join these debates. In a competitive atmosphere, he believed that mistakes deserve punishment. That player was Bangladesh's wicket-keeper batter, Litton Das. He spoke out against critics who insisted the Bangla Tigers did not uphold the spirit of the game.
“First of all, no one came here to play a charity league; this is an international match,” Litton Das was quoted as saying to Daily Star Bangladesh.

“Since the dismissal is within the rules, I don’t see any compromise of sportsmanship. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. But as players, we felt an out is an out," he added.
Bangladesh's case for a fair spirit
The debate arose over whether Agha impeded play while trying to stop the ball. After the incident, Agha picked up the ball and gave it to Hasan Miraz instead of running back to the crease.
As Agha stood outside his crease, the Bangla Tigers appealed for obstruction. Miraz was standing near the ball. The Pakistan skipper, who had scored a knock of 64 runs, was distracted and got out in this manner.

Agha, frustrated, got into a heated exchange with the Bangladesh skipper and the on-field umpire. He threw his helmet on the ground before walking back to the pavilion.
The Men in Green defeated Bangladesh by 160 runs. As a result, the dismissal became irrelevant, but it remained a topic as the series moved towards the decider.
