Rajasthan Royals (RR) assistant coach Vikram Rathour lauded 15-year-old batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, calling him a “very special player,” and played down worries about a possible hamstring injury after their loss to Sunrisers Hyderabad at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur.

Speaking after the game, Rathour said the team already knows how talented Sooryavanshi is. He added that the youngster looks stable for now after receiving treatment.

He explained that while there were early signs of a hamstring problem, it doesn’t seem serious at this stage. The team expects to have a clearer idea in the next couple of days.

Talking about the defeat, Rathour admitted that fielding mistakes made a big difference. He said dropping catches at key moments hurt the team against strong opponents and proved costly in the end. Notably, RR's Shimron Hetmyer and Ravindra Jadeja dropped Abhishek Sharma's catch when he was on 4 and 30.

RR vs SRH match summary

RR had put up a big score of 228/6, thanks to an outstanding 103 off just 37 balls from Sooryavanshi. Dhruv Jurel also contributed with a steady 51 off 35 balls, while Donovan Ferreira added a quick 33 from 16 deliveries towards the end.

While chasing, SRH lost Travis Head early, but bounced back strongly. Ishan Kishan (74 off 31) and Abhishek Sharma (57 off 29) built a strong 132-run partnership that set up the chase. Even though a few wickets fell later, Heinrich Klaasen (29) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (36) kept things under control, helping SRH chase the target comfortably in 18.3 overs.
