ICC Men's Player Of The Month Award: India's star opener Sanju Samson has been adjudged as the ICC Men's Player of the Month Award for March on the back of his brilliant performance, which helped the team win the T20 World Cup. He was not part of the playing XI in the first few matches but became the star performer in the knockout games, helping the hosts defend their title.

He has also scripted a unique record, as players from different teams have clinched this title in the last few months, including South Africa's Simon Harmer, Australia's Mitchell Starc, New Zealand's Daryl Mitchell, and Pakistan's Sahibzada Farhan.

“Winning the ICC Player of the Month award is an incredible feeling, especially as it comes during what has been the most unforgettable phase of my cricketing journey. Playing a part in India’s triumph at the Men’s T20 World Cup was truly a dream realized, and it took some time for the magnitude of that moment to sink in fully,” Sanju Samson was heard as saying.

“This is an exciting era for Indian cricket, with immense talent across the board. I feel grateful for the opportunities I’ve received. I thank my teammates and coaching staff for their trust and support, which allowed me to perform at my best," he added. After being dropped from the playing XI for the first few matches, he was recalled for the must-win Super 8s. He scored 24 runs against the Sikandar Raza-led side. He then made a brilliant comeback in the next few matches. He did fall short of a well-deserved hundred against the West Indies, but his match-winning knock of 97 runs helped the team qualify for the semifinal.

He then scored a brilliant 89 against the Harry Brook-led side in Mumbai. This helped the team post a mammoth target of 253 runs. The Three Lions failed to chase the target and fell short by three runs. He then scored a match-winning 89 in the summit clash and helped the team successfully defend the title, winning by 96 runs.

During the three knockout matches, he scored 275 runs at an average of 137.50. His strike rate was an impressive 199.27. It's the first time Samson has won the ICC Men's Player of the Month Award.

New Zealand's women's team captain, Amelia Kerr, won this award for the third time after her strong performance against Zimbabwe and South Africa.

After replacing Sophie Devine as the captain of the white-ball teams, her leadership skills have helped her perform brilliantly both as a bowler and as a batter. During the ODI series against Zimbabwe, she took 16 wickets across three matches, including her career-best figures of 7/34.

At the same time, she also made a significant contribution with the bat as she was the third highest run-getter after scoring 140 runs by playing in three matches at a staggering average of 46.67 during March.
