Shubman Gill-led India are currently in Sri Lanka for the two-Test match series, and to get familiar with the conditions, the Men in Blue are currently playing a three-day warm-up clash against Sri Lanka XI at Nondescripts Cricket Club Ground, Colombo.
Ahead of the series opener, Sarfaraz Khan has grabbed attention with an emotional Instagram story after being left out of the team. Sarfaraz was part of India’s squad for the Test tour of England but did not get a chance to play a single match. He has once again missed out on selection for the Sri Lanka series despite performing well whenever he has been given opportunities.
Sarfaraz Khan shares cryptic post
On the opening day of India’s three-day warm-up match against the Sri Lanka Cricket XI, Sarfaraz shared a message on Instagram that many fans believed reflected his disappointment over being ignored.
Posting a picture of himself, he wrote, “There might not be a spot for me right now, but I will fight with whatever I have.”
He also hinted at a fresh beginning by adding, “New chapter, Jersey 2.” The post has led to speculation that Sarfaraz could be set to represent a new team in the upcoming domestic season.
Sarfaraz Khan's Test career
Sarfaraz made his Test debut during England’s tour of India in 2024. So far, he has played six Tests and scored 371 runs at an average of 37. His record includes one century and three half-centuries. His maiden Test hundred came against New Zealand in Bengaluru.
