Arshdeep Singh, Sai Sudharsan Earn Maiden Test Call-Ups

Left-arm pacer Arsheeep Singh and Sai Sudharsan have been handed maiden call-ups in the test squad comprising of 18 players. Abhimanyu Easwaran, who has been amassing truck load of runs in the domestic circuit has been retained in the test side.

Jasprit Bumrah has been snubbed of vice-captaincy as Chairman of Men's Senior Selection Committee feel that he might not able to play all five tests in the series.

KL Rahul is among the few senior players, who will be key to India's performance against England. Notably, this will be KL's third England tour along with Rishabh Pant.

The squad also features Karun Nair, who returns to the national set up up after seven years. A notable exclusion was pacer Mohammed Shami, who was deemed not fit enough for the long series.

"Last year or so we have looked at Shubman (for leadership). We are hopeful he is the guy who is going (to take the team forward). It is a high pressure job but he is a terrific player. We wish him all the best," said chief selector Ajit Agarkar after announcing the squad.

The Test series will commence on June 20th in Leeds before the action moves to Birmingham for the second Test. The Lord’s Cricket Ground will host the third Test, beginning on July 10, 2025. Old Trafford and Kennington Oval will host the fourth and fifth Tests of the series respectively.
