T20 World Cup 2026: India's T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav made it clear that the side is all set to board the flight to Colombo for its February 15 match against Pakistan. While addressing reporters at a press conference, Suryakumar confirmed that the flight has been booked as planned. “Our flight for Colombo is booked. We will go and then we’ll see,” Suryakumar said.
In a surprising move last week, the Pakistani government announced that its senior Cricket team will not take the field against India for the much-awaited T20 World Cup clash in Colombo, scheduled to take place on February 15.
“Humne manaa nahi kiya hai khelne. Unhone mana kiya hai. Hamara flights booked hai Colombo ke liye (We have not refused to play against Pakistan. They have refused. Our flights for Colombo for the Pakistan game are booked).”
During the press conference, Suryakumar said, “Pehle hum yahan khelenge, phir dilli jaayenge, phir wahaan se Colombo jaayenge (First we will play in Mumbai, then head to Delhi and then travel to Colombo).”
When asked about the ongoing fiasco regarding the boycott, the Indian captain said, “I feel their decision is not in my control. We have been told we have to play a game on 15th. We played them thrice in Asia Cup. we played well. We have a game to play on 15th.”
Taken A Considered Stance: PAK PM
Calling Pakistan's boycott of their T20 World Cup match against India an "appropriate decision, the country's Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that it was a "considered stance" to support Bangladesh.
"We have taken a very clear stand on the T20 World Cup that we won't play the match against India because there should be no politics on the sports field," Sharif stated after a government meeting here.
"We have taken a very considered stance, and we should completely stand by Bangladesh, and I think this is a very appropriate decision. We are with Bangladesh," he added.
In response, Bangladesh sports advisor Asif Nazrul posted "Thank You, Pakistan" on his official Facebook page, while quoting Sharif's statement.
