Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s start to international cricket hasn’t gone the way many expected. The 15-year-old has shown glimpses of his talent in the ongoing T20I series against England but has not been able to convert those starts into a big score.

How Sooryavanshi performed in England?

The young opener made 14 on his debut in Manchester before scoring 13 at Trent Bridge. In the fourth T20I at Bristol, he got off to another quick start with 15 runs from just 10 balls but was dismissed before he could make a bigger impact.

With India losing both completed matches after the first T20I was washed out, England have now taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the five-match series.

Archer’s Short-Ball Plan Works Again

Sooryavanshi looked positive at the start of his innings in Bristol. He took on Josh Tongue in the second over, hitting one boundary and one six to show his attacking intent.

However, Jofra Archer once again got the better of the teenager. Trying to attack his Rajasthan Royals teammate, Sooryavanshi mistimed his shot and was caught by Sam Curran inside the 30-yard circle. Archer had also dismissed him in the previous T20I at Trent Bridge.

The youngster walked back looking disappointed after missing another opportunity to play a big innings.

England Credit IPL Analysis

England leg-spinner Adil Rashid said the team had studied Sooryavanshi’s IPL performances carefully and used that information while planning against him.

Rashid also felt India have given the youngster the freedom to play his natural game despite the early setbacks.

Sooryavanshi’s performances in England have been very different from what he produced in IPL 2026. The teenager enjoyed a dream season, scoring 776 runs at a strike rate of 237.30. He also smashed a record 72 sixes and finished as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
