Vijay Hazare Trophy: India's senior batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma turned up for their respective domestic teams to play in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy. Kohli represented Delhi, whereas Rohit was seen in action for Mumbai in the first two matches of the premier 50-over competition, which kicked off on December 24.
However, Virat and Rohit will not be seen in the third round of the Vijay Hazare Trophy on Monday, December 29. In their third Elite Group C match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Shardul Thakur’s Mumbai will face Chhattisgarh at Jaipuria Vidyalaya Ground in Jaipur, whereas Delhi’s third Elite Group D match is scheduled against Saurashtra at KSCA Cricket (2) Ground in Alur.

Both matches will kick off at 9 AM, but Virat and Rohit will not be playing. Notably, Rohit was included in Mumbai's squad for only the first two matches and is not available for selection in the contest against Chhattisgarh, whereas Kohli has also left Delhi’s camp after the first two matches. Virat was seen in Mumbai on Saturday and is all set to be in the absence during the Delhi vs Saurashtra match. Interestingly, Rishabh Pant is expected to continue as the skipper in the third match.

Kohli set the stage on fire in the first two matches and produced efforts of a century and a fifty. In the first match for Delhi, he scored 131 runs from 101 balls in the 299-run chase, and against Gujarat on Friday (December 26), Kohli added 77 runs from 61 balls to Delhi’s total and bagged the Player Of The Match award. In place of Kohli, former India U19 World Cup-winning team captain Yash Dhull is likely to bat at No. 3 on Monday against Saurashtra.
Talking about Rohit, the former Indian skipper also kicked off the tournament in style as he played a memorable knock of 155 runs from just 94 balls against Sikkim in the 237-run chase at Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Wednesday (December 24), but got out for a golden duck in Mumbai’s second match against Uttarakhand on Friday.
Apart from Rohit and Kohli, 14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is also set to miss the remainder of the tournament for Bihar.
Sooryavanshi has been in incredible form lately and smashed 190 runs in just 84 balls for Bihar in the Vijay Hazare Trophy Plate Group match against Arunachal Pradesh on December 24. He was recently included in India's squad for the U19 World Cup 2026. He will join the Indian team’s camp ahead of a three-match series in South Africa, which is starting on January 3, 2026, in Benoni. In the absence of Ayush Mhatre and Vihaan Malhotra, the 14-year-old Sooryavanshi will captain the India U19 team in three youth ODIs.
