IPL 2026: Virat Kohli delivered a motivational message at DPS RK Puram, urging students to honor their learning environment and pursue their dreams with honesty. He noted that he wasn't used to speaking at such events but that he related to students from his own school experience. He discussed how his priorities changed when he chose cricket.

"Thank you for having me. I'm not used to speaking in schools; it's a bit awkward because I left the school setup for cricket. I understand the school environment—I went through the same stage you're experiencing. From my experience, my focus and priorities shifted early in my life," said Kohli.

"What I want to say is, a school is a place where you come to learn, you come to grow, you become better people", he said.

He highlighted the important role of teachers in shaping character and guiding children's lives.

"Have respect and regard for your environment first. Respect your teachers and those who teach you. They are giving you part of their lives. It is important to give them respect, focus, and attention," he said.

Discussing his life choices, Kohli said he committed to cricket early and stressed the importance of clear goals.

"I chose sport early in my life, and it came from an honest place. I was sure I wanted to pursue cricket. I had to be honest with myself, my family, and my teachers to convey that this was the path I wanted," he added.

He urged students to be self-aware and committed to their dreams. "Be honest with your dreams and follow them with absolute commitment. Only you will know if you are being 100% honest," he said.

Kohli emphasized his close bond with the academy, saying it was a major part of his childhood.

"I started practicing at eight and still visit the academy when I can. It's a big part of my childhood. I hope all kids here value it and learn from the academy. I wish everyone the best," he concluded.

He became the first player to score 9,000 runs in the tournament during the IPL 2026 match against the Delhi Capitals in Delhi, the starting point of his career.
