IND vs BAN: Star India batter Virat Kohli and head coach Gautam Gambhir was seen engaging in a light-hearted banter before the two-match Test series against Bangladesh and thus ended all the so-called masala around their rumored rivalry. The BCCI took to their official X account and shared the teaser of the interview, where Gambhir was seen reminiscing one of the big moments of Kohli's career, especially his brilliant performances in Australia.
"I remember when you had that bumper series in Australia where you scored heaps and heaps of runs, and that got you in that zone," Gambhir was heard saying in the video while talking about his brilliant performances, which made him one of the greatest cricketers of the modern era. He then compared Kohli's innings to those of his in Napier. "For me, it was the same when I played in Napier... I have never been in that zone ever in my life after that. So I can imagine how good that feeling is to be in that zone", he revealed.
While replying, Kohli emphasized how external factors like talking to the opposition can affect a player's mindset. He then asked Gambhir as to whether talking to the opponent forced him to lose focus or did it encouraged him more. "When you're batting and you have a bit of a chat with the opposition, did you ever feel like this might carry on to you going out of the zone and potentially getting out, or did it put you in a more motivated space?" he asked Gambhir.

Gambhir then quickly highlighted that Kohli has had more on-field rifts and roasted him with a hilarious jibe, "You had more altercations than I have. You can answer that question better than I can." This light-hearted banter showed the calmness between both of them, who are often been shown as having an intense rivalry, especially their famous on-field spat in IPL 2013.
Kohli, then began laughing and talked about his perspective and said, "I am looking for someone who agrees with my opinion. I am not saying that it's wrong. I am looking for someone to say, 'Yes, this is the right way". "We've come a long way, and we're putting an end to all the masala and all the spice," he concluded the interview and thus ended the years of speculation around their so-called rivalry.
