India's star batter Virat Kohli came up with a special social media post on New Year's Eve, sharing an adorable picture with wife Anushka Sharma as the pair welcomed 2026. Virat is enjoying the quality time with his family before returning to action for the Men in Blue.
"Stepping into 2026 with the light of my life @anushkasharma," Kohli posted on Wednesday evening. The faces of Virat and Anushka were half-painted in the picture. While Virat had Spiderman painted on his face, Anushka had a butterfly. Kohli had a memorable 2025 and was recently in action for Delhi in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy, which kicked off on December 24.

Having produced incredible efforts in the two matches he played for Delhi, the former Indian skipper Virat is all set to feature in another match in the premier 50-over domestic tournament. He will play in Delhi's match against Railways on January 6 at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, DDCA president Rohan Jaitley confirmed a couple of days ago.

Another appearance in the VHT will not only give Kohli more game time, but it will also be an impressive preparation for him ahead of the three-match ODI series against New Zealand, which kicks off on January 11. Kohli, along with other senior Indian cricketers, headed into the Vijay Hazare Trophy following the BCCI's diktat to prioritise domestic cricket as per their availabilities.
Kohli looked in great touch with the bat in VHT as he continued his magnificent form. He played a 131-run knock in just 101 balls on the back of 14 fours and three sixes as Delhi defeated Andhra Pradesh in 4 wickets. In the second game, the 37-year-old scored 77 runs in 61 balls, hitting 13 fours and a six to help Delhi beat Gujarat by 7 runs. In the meantime, he also became the fastest to 16,000 List A runs, reaching the milestone in his 330th innings and going past Sachin Tendulkar, who achieved it in 391 innings.
As per a PTI report, while the Indian ODI team for the New Zealand series is all set to assemble in Vadodara by January 8, Kohli may arrive a day early to start training. Virat has been an outstanding player for India in the ODI format and will be looking to create an impact with his eyes set on the ODI World Cup 2027. He is the second top run-getter in ODI history, only behind Tendulkar, with 14557 runs to his name in 308 career matches on the back of 53 centuries and 76 fifties.
