Mumbai's iconic stadium, Wankhede Stadium, is all set to host the high-voltage Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Fans are excited about this high-profile clash, but there are also a few doubts around key players.
Mumbai Indians (MI) have not given any clear update on the availability of Rohit Sharma. On the other side, there is still no official word on MS Dhoni either, although both players have been seen training in the nets.

As fans wait for updates, a video has been doing the rounds on social media showing Rohit spending time with his two-year-old son and having fun with the broadcaster’s robotic camera, Champak.
Has CSK said anything about Dhoni?
Chennai Super Kings’ bowling coach Eric Simons did not give a clear answer about Dhoni’s return. He said the final decision will depend on how Dhoni feels and what the medical team advises.
“MS will only play when he feels he is ready and the medical team clears him. I’m not going to make any announcement here," Simons said.
Even if Dhoni does not play, his role in the team remains important. Simons pointed out that his experience still helps the side, especially in pressure moments at the end of matches.
“Someone like MS never really goes away. He’s always there as a resource… The tactics we’re using at the death have benefited from his insights."
When could Rohit return?
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians are hoping Rohit comes back soon. After this match, the team has a six-day break before facing Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 29, which gives him some extra time to recover.
The team might bring him back slowly, possibly using him as an Impact Player so he doesn’t have to spend too much time on the field.
Rohit has an excellent record in matches between Mumbai and Chennai. He is the highest run-scorer in these games, with 913 runs at an average of 31.35 and a strike rate of 131, including one century and eight half-centuries.
