DC vs RCB IPL 2026: Delhi Capitals star pacer Lungi Ngidi is not part of the playing XI for the IPL 2026 match against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Delhi. Ngidi had sustained a freaky head injury during their match against the Punjab Kings at the same venue.

The Protea bowler was trying to take a catch during the second innings, but he lost his balance as he tried to follow the ball and fell headfirst. He lay unconscious on the ground for a few minutes as the team physios were seen running on the ground, which raised concerns among both the players and the fans.

A green coprridor was organized to help him reach the nearby hospital quickly, but the scans revealed that it was a serious injury. Ngidi also provided an update on his injury on his official social media account, writing that it was all good, which was a huge boost for the Delhi-based franchise.

Medical experts, however, underlined how dangerous the fall could have been, with one specialist noting the risk of a severe spinal injury. The scare also affected the match situation, as Delhi were unable to bring in a like-for-like replacement under concussion rules and eventually opted for a spin-bowling all-rounder, Vipraj Nigam.

Lungi Ngidi discharged

Ngidi is currently in stable condition and was discharged from the hospital late in the evening on April 25, 2026. After undergoing medical evaluation at BLK-Max Super Specialty Hospital, he returned to the Delhi Capitals team hotel.

“We have included two fast bowlers – Chameera and Jamieson are playing. We have to strike in the power play. We have seen the importance of that in the last few days. Mukesh started the season well, but his last few matches haven’t gone well. At this time, getting a break can work well, and we want to use our international bowlers," Axar said at the toss.

Delhi Capitals playing 11: Sahil Parakh, KL Rahul (WK), Nitish Rana, Sameer Rizvi, Tristan Stubbs, David Miller, Axar Patel (C), Dushmantha Chameera, Kyle Jamieson, Kuldeep Yadav, and T Natarajan
