The WPL 2027 retention list is officially out, with all five franchises finalising their squads ahead of the upcoming player auction.
The teams had until September 28 to decide which players they wanted to retain from their existing squads, setting the stage for another round of squad changes before the fifth edition of the Women's Premier League.
Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru have retained a 12-player core, while Delhi Capitals have kept 13 players. Gujarat Giants have the largest retained group with 15 players, followed by UP Warriorz with 11 and Mumbai Indians with 11.
The WPL 2027 Player Auction will be held on October 28 in Kochi. The fifth edition of the tournament is scheduled to take place from January 14 to February 7, 2027.
WPL Retention List 2027: Royal Challengers Bengaluru
RCB have retained 12 players after winning their second WPL title in 2026.
Retained players: Smriti Mandhana, Richa Ghosh, Ellyse Perry, Shreyanka Patil, Georgia Voll, Nadine de Klerk, Radha Yadav, Lauren Bell, Prema Rawat, Arundhati Reddy, Pooja Vastrakar and Prathyoosha Kumar.
The Bengaluru franchise has released Grace Harris, Linsey Smith, Gautami Naik and Dayalan Hemalatha ahead of the auction.
WPL Retention List 2027: Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals have retained 13 players, including captain Jemimah Rodrigues and India batter Shafali Verma.
Retained players: Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Deeya Yadav, Niki Prasad, Minnu Mani, N Charani, Mamatha Madiwala, Nandini Sharma, Laura Wolvaardt, Annabel Sutherland, Chinelle Henry, Lucy Hamilton and Marizanne Kapp.
DC have released Lizelle Lee, Taniyaa Bhatia, Alana King, Pragati Singh, E Srujana and Sneha Rana.
WPL Retention List 2027: UP Warriorz
UP Warriorz have retained 11 players for the 2027 season.
Retained players: Deepti Sharma, Harleen Deol, Kranti Gaud, Meg Lanning, Phoebe Litchfield, Pratika Rawal, Shikha Pandey, Shipra Giri, Simran Shaikh, Sophie Ecclestone and Tara Norris.
UP Warriorz have released Kiran Navgire, Chloe Tryon, Amy Jones, Deandra Dottin, Asha Sobhana and Shweta Sehrawat.
WPL Retention List 2027: Gujarat Giants
Gujarat Giants have retained the largest group among the five WPL teams, keeping 15 players ahead of the auction.
Retained players: Anushka Sharma, Ashleigh Gardner, Beth Mooney, Bharti Fulmali, Georgia Wareham, Happy Kumari, Jintimani Kalita, Kanika Ahuja, Kashvee Gautam, Kim Garth, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Renuka Singh, Sophie Devine, Tanuja Kanwer and Yastika Bhatia.
Gujarat Giants have released Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Aayushi Soni, Titas Sadhu and Shivani Singh.
WPL Retention List 2027: Mumbai Indians
Two-time champions Mumbai Indians have retained 11 players.
Retained players: Harmanpreet Kaur, Amanjot Kaur, Hayley Matthews, Amelia Kerr, Natalie Sciver-Brunt, Nicola Carey, Rahila Firdous, S Sajana, Sanskriti Gupta, Shabnim Ismail and Vaishnavi Sharma.
Mumbai Indians have released Poonam Khemnar, Saika Ishaque, Triveni Vasistha, Nalla Reddy, Milly Illingworth and G Kamalini.

WPL 2027 Auction Date And Season Schedule
The WPL 2027 player auction will take place on October 28, 2026, in Kochi. The auction follows the September 28 retention deadline, with franchises now able to use the event to fill vacancies and reshape their squads.
The fifth edition of the Women's Premier League will begin on January 14, 2027, and the tournament is scheduled to conclude on February 7.
