The air in Delhi-NCR has become suffocating, with air quality in various areas of the national capital recorded in the 'severe' category on Sunday.
According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi's average AQI was recorded at 391 at 7 a.m. on 9 November. The AQI crossed the 400-mark in numerous locations, indicating 'severe' conditions:
Anand Vihar: 412
Alipur: 415
Ashok Vihar: 416
Chandni Chowk: 409
ITO: 420
Near AIIMS: 421
Jahangirpuri: 433
Other areas in the capital also recorded high pollution levels, including Dwarka (383), Delhi Airport (358), and Lodhi Road (377).
The pollution extended into the NCR, with Vasundhara, Ghaziabad, at 421 and Noida Sector-62 at 410. In contrast, Gurugram Sector-51 recorded an AQI of 260, and Faridabad Sector 11 was at 275.
Earlier, on Saturday, Delhi was the country's second most polluted city, while the air in Rohtak was recorded as the 'worst'.
People To Unite Today For Clean Air
With slogans such as, "We may not have breath, but we have the courage to fight," "Pollution is causing an uproar – the government must find a solution," and "Children, the elderly, and the young all need clean air," people will unite at India Gate today, Sunday, to protest peacefully against pollution.
This campaign against polluted air will be conducted under the banner of citizen groups like 'Warrior Moms' and 'My Right to Breathe'. The protest has not received permission from the police; however, despite this, people are preparing to proceed as per the pre-determined plan.

A campaign is also being run on social media with the hashtag '#HelpUsBreathe'. Those involved in the campaign demand that immediate steps be taken regarding pollution, that the government issue a health advisory, and that action be taken to control pollution.
