The North-West District Police conducted a major crackdown on criminal activities under Operation Kavach 12.0, carrying out raids at more than 170 locations during a special 24-hour operation. The drive, conducted between January 23 and January 24, led to the arrest of drug traffickers, illegal liquor smugglers, arms offenders, and gamblers.
According to Additional Commissioner of Police Bhishma Singh, nine drug traffickers were arrested, and 345 grams of cannabis (ganja) were seized during the operation. Police also apprehended 21 illegal liquor smugglers, recovering 616 litres of illicit liquor, which was being smuggled from neighbouring states.

Strict action was taken against illegal arms possession as well. Police arrested 10 accused and recovered two pistols, 10 cartridges, and eight knives. In a separate crackdown on gambling, 19 gamblers were arrested, and Rs 52,200 in cash, along with gambling-related materials, were seized.
In addition to these arrests, preventive action was taken under various legal provisions. A total of 54 persons were bound down under BNSS Sections 126 and 170, while 91 persons were bound down under the Excise Act. Action was also taken against 18 individuals under the Delhi Police Act. Under Sections 65 and 66 of the Delhi Police Act, 895 people were taken into custody, and 60 vehicles were seized. Police also detained 425 history-sheeters and issued 368 challans under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act.
ACP Bhishma Singh said the intensive campaign has created fear among drug traffickers and the liquor mafia, significantly disrupting their supply chains. He added that such operations will continue in the future.
The Delhi Police have appealed to citizens to report any suspicious activity promptly to help maintain peace and security in the area.
