CBSE Class 10 Result 2026 Phase 2: Under CBSE’s two-board system, introduced this year, Class 10th students had the opportunity to appear for the Second Board Examination in May 2026 seeking improvement or to pass particular subjects. Without losing any academic year, students had the opportunity to improve their performance and proceed further with Class 11 admission. The results are still awaited, but the better scores obtained across the two attempts will be considered for preparing the final marksheet.

If a student fails in both attempts of the CBSE Class 10th examinations, they may have to reappear in the next academic session. Those who have applied under the improvement category will have to be satisfied with their earlier results.

What Happens If You Fail?

According to the current CBSE framework, candidates who fail the Second Board Examination will have to repeat the academic year. There is no third attempt for any improvement. Such students will be declared unsuccessful for that academic session and will likely have to reappear in the examination during the next academic cycle.

Will There Be Compartment Exams After Phase 2?

With the introduction of the two-board system, there is no provision for compartment examinations. The CBSE Class 10th Phase 2 examination is considered an additional opportunity for candidates to improve their marks or clear particular subjects. The results are yet to be announced. 

Class 11 Provisional Admission Ongoing

The Phase 2 results are delayed. The results were expected by June 30, but as of now, there is no official announcement regarding the result date. While students await their outcomes, many schools have started provisional admission for Class 11 students. If a student fails in the second board exam, the school will cancel his/her provisional admission. 

Under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the Central Board of Secondary Education has introduced the dual-exam system for Class 10 students. This has been done to ease students’ pressure associated with a single board examination and allow them opportunities to improve their marks.
