Chandigarh School Holidays: Due to the continuously increasing cold and adverse weather conditions, school students in Chandigarh have received some relief. The District Education Officer has issued an order extending the winter holidays. Now, all government, aided, and recognised private schools in Chandigarh will remain closed until January 13, 2026.
The order issued by the Education Department clarifies that this decision has been taken in continuation of the previous order issued on January 3, 2026. Despite the extension of the holiday period, the previously decided guidelines and schedule for schools will remain unchanged.
The order states that the extreme cold can directly affect the health of young children and students. Keeping this in mind, the administration has decided to extend the holidays as a precautionary measure.
The Education Department has instructed all school principals to ensure strict compliance with the order. Action may be taken against any school found to be negligent at any level. It is noteworthy that this order will be effective from January 9, 2026, providing students and parents with a few more days of relief from the cold.
