A final-year computer science student named Edward Nathan Varghese from Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad has received the highest placement of the Rs 2.5 crore job offer from a Netherlands-based firm, the highest in the institute’s history. He will join the Netherlands-based firm for the position of Software Engineer in July.
After excelling in a competitive internship, he appreciated the IIT's flexible curriculum and advanced coding for his success. The institute has mentioned that it is the highest ever package in the placement history.This job offer has been extended by Optiver, a Netherlands firm.
Excellent Academic Background:
The 21-year-old Edward Nathan Varghese Was born and raised in Hyderabad and completed his schooling from class 7 to 12 in Bengaluru, will join the company in July after converting a two-month summer internship into a pre-placement offer. Edward scored All India Rank 1100 in the JEE Main and AIR 558 in JEE Advanced in the year 2022. In the 2025 through Common Admission Test, he achieved a CAT score of 99.96 percentile and ranked 120.

He was one of those two students who were selected for the internship there, but the only one to receive the final offer after completing two weeks of intensive training. According to several media reports, Edward mentioned this was the first and the only company he interviewed for during the whole placement procedure conducted by the institute. Edward's parents both mother and father, are engineers and they are extremely happy for their son.
Previous Placements Packages:
The record-breaking placement opportunity comes in a year when another computer science engineering student at the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad has bagged a Rs 1.1 crore package, raising the benchmark for the campus where the earlier highest offer was Rs 1 crore in the year 2017.
Over the past three years, the highest placement packages at Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad have risen from Rs 90 lakh in 2023–24 to Rs 66 lakh in 2024–25, to an impressive Rs 2.5 crore offer in 2025.
