Jammu and Kashmir School Holiday: In view of continuous heavy rainfall, landslides at multiple locations, and worsening weather conditions, the Jammu and Kashmir government has taken a major decision, extending the summer vacation in all government and private schools across the state till July 27, 2026. The government has made it clear that nothing is more important right now than the safety of children and teachers.
However, despite this order, complaints emerged from certain areas that some private schools were being run secretly. Taking this seriously, the education department has now become completely strict, especially after some private schools in the Sundarbani zone were found operating on July 21 despite the government order.
Were Private Schools Found Open During Inspection?
Following instructions from Additional Deputy Commissioner Sundarbani, Ramkesh Sharma, Zonal Education Officer Sundarbani Ashok Kumar took immediate action and conducted surprise inspections of various private schools in the area. Although no private school was found open during the inspection, the administration sent out a strict warning on the spot to ensure full compliance going forward.
What Warning Was Given To School Managements?
During the inspection, the Zonal Education Officer gave clear instructions to all private school principals and management committees to fully comply with orders issued by the government and education department. He stated that any negligence in the future would not be tolerated, and warned that if any government or private school is found open or calling students before July 27, strict administrative action will be taken against the concerned school management and responsible officials under education department rules.
What Has The Administration Appealed To Parents?
The administration has appealed to all school managements, parents and teachers to fully comply with government orders. The education department has specifically asked parents not to pay attention to any rumours, and to immediately inform the education department or local administration if any school calls their children during the holidays.
