Maharashtra School Holiday 2026: The Raigad district administration has announced a holiday for all primary, secondary and higher secondary schools on July 2, 2026, due to heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions across the district.
The district administration has directed all schools to follow the order strictly. However, headmasters, teachers, and non-teaching staff have been asked to remain available for disaster management-related duties and comply with instructions issued by the local administration whenever required.
The order covers all schools in Raigad district, including educational institutions in Panvel, Uran and other parts of Navi Mumbai. Authorities said the decision was made to ensure students' safety as heavy rain continues in several areas.
District Administration Issues Official Order
According to an official notification issued by the District Collector and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority, the holiday has been declared as a precautionary measure amid forecasts of heavy rainfall over the next few days.
The India Meteorological Department has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall at several places in Raigad district, with isolated areas likely to witness extremely heavy rainfall between July 1 and July 5. Officials said the administration will continue to monitor the weather situation closely.
Schools in Panvel, Uran and Other Areas Affected
The closure applies to all primary, secondary and higher secondary schools located across the district, including schools in Panvel, Uran, Alibag, Shrivardhan, Tala, Poladpur and other affected regions.
District officials said continuous rainfall has disrupted normal life in many areas and reports received from local authorities and tehsildars highlighted the need for precautionary measures to protect students from weather-related risks.
Teachers and Staff to Remain Available
While students have been granted a holiday, the district administration has directed headmasters, teachers and non-teaching staff to remain available for official duties if required.
School authorities have been instructed to cooperate with local administration and disaster management teams and comply with any directions issued during emergency situations caused by heavy rainfall or flooding.
Administration Advises Residents to Stay Alert
Authorities have urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel and remain cautious as heavy rainfall is expected to continue over the coming days. People have also been advised to follow official weather updates and instructions issued by local authorities.
Officials said further decisions regarding school closures will depend on rainfall intensity and weather conditions in the district. As of now, no official announcement has been made regarding holidays beyond July 2.
However, the administration stated that Schools are expected to remain closed in the coming days if heavy rainfall continues and weather conditions do not improve.
