NTA NEET UG 2026 Paper Analysis: The NEET-UG 2026 examination was conducted nationwide by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on May 3, 2026, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. With the conclusion of the exam, over 22.7 Lakhs students are now eagerly awaiting the unofficial answer keys and are keen to assess the difficulty level of the paper. This examination serves as the gateway for admission into undergraduate medical courses in India, such as MBBS, BDS, AYUSH, and other medical programs. According to official information, millions of candidates appeared for this examination across thousands of centers spread across hundreds of cities.
Initial feedback from students and coaching institutes suggests that the overall paper was of a moderate difficulty level. As observed in previous years, Biology remained the most scoring section, while Physics appeared comparatively difficult and calculation-heavy for many candidates. Experts believe the difficulty level of the paper may influence the expected NEET cutoff for 2026, which will become clearer once the official answer key and results are announced.
NEET UG 2026 Exam Conducted by NTA on May 3 from 2 PM to 5 PM

Subject-Wise Difficulty Level of NEET 2026 Paper:
Based on early reactions, the Biology section (Botany and Zoology) was considered easy to moderate, with many questions directly based on NCERT concepts. Chemistry was mostly moderate, featuring a balanced mix of theoretical and numerical questions.
However, Physics appeared moderate to difficult, with several students reporting lengthy calculations and conceptual problems. This trend is consistent with previous years, where Physics often becomes the most challenging section for aspirants.
NEET 2026 Question Paper Analysis and Important Topics
Experts noted that most questions were NCERT-based, particularly in Biology and Chemistry. Topics such as Genetics, Human Physiology, Ecology, Organic Chemistry, and Electrostatics reportedly featured prominently in the paper. Coaching institutes are expected to release memory-based question papers and unofficial answer keys soon after the exam.
The official answer key and response sheet will be released later by the National Testing Agency on its official portal.

NEET UG 2026: Check Subject-Wise Experts Analysis
NEET UG 2026: How was the Botany section?
The Botany section of the NEET UG 2026 paper was very easy. It was based entirely on the NCERT curriculum. The questions were very straightforward. There were no calculation-based questions, nor were there any numerical problems related to pedigrees or genetics.
Rupesh Chaudhary, a Botany faculty member at PhysicsWallah (PW), stated, "The questions from Genetics and Ecology were easy, a departure from the questions asked in previous years. Questions asked in the exam appeared directly from the test series we provided to our students. Students who had prepared well and covered the entire syllabus would have found this section easy."
NEET UG 2026: How difficult was the Physics paper?
According to subject expert Neeraj Kumar Chaudhary, the Physics paper was of a fairly average difficulty level. Students who had prepared thoroughly would likely have been able to answer most of the questions, while some students may have found a few specific questions somewhat challenging. Chaudhary remarked, "There were quite a few questions that required deep critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Therefore, we can say that it was more calculation-oriented; however, the questions were distributed quite uniformly across the entire syllabus, making it, overall, a good paper."
NEET UG 2026 Biology Paper Review by Subject Experts
According to Vipin Kumar Sharma, a Botany faculty member at PhysicsWallah (PW), the Biology section (comprising both Botany and Zoology) was easy. It was based entirely on the NCERT curriculum. The questions could be solved using the elimination method (arriving at the correct answer by ruling out incorrect options)—particularly question types such as 'Match the Following.' Sharma stated, "The paper featured fewer 'Assertion-Reason' type questions and statement-based questions. Most of the questions were lengthy, and there was a significant number of 'Match the Following' type questions. This would likely have been advantageous for the students. Those who had prepared well would have been able to complete the Biology section in approximately one hour. Compared to Biology, the Physics and Chemistry sections were more difficult."
NEET UG 2026 Paper Analysis: Chemistry Section Review
The Inorganic Chemistry portion of the NEET UG 2026 paper was very easy. The questions were quite straightforward. According to Mohit Dadhich, an Inorganic Chemistry faculty member at PhysicsWallah, all 13 questions were based on the NCERT curriculum.
NEET 2026 Expected Cutoff and Student Reactions
Students exiting exam centres shared mixed reactions. Many candidates described the paper as balanced and largely predictable, though Physics posed difficulties for some. If the overall difficulty level remains moderate, experts believe the NEET 2026 cutoff could remain similar to or slightly higher than last year.
Based on previous trends, the expected cut-off for 2026 indicates that candidates from the General and EWS categories may need to secure at least the 50th percentile, translating to a score range of approximately 686 to 144. Meanwhile, candidates from OBC, SC, and ST categories are likely to qualify at the 40th percentile, with expected scores ranging between 143 and 113.
