NEET UG Re-Exam Guidelines 2026: With only a few days remaining for the NEET UG re-exam on June 21, NTA has announced a set of student-friendly changes in an official notice on June 12, 2026. According to it, the changes have been implemented to make the examination process more comfortable for candidates, whilst maintaining a high standard of fairness, security, and transparency. Additional rough space, extended exam duration, and changes in the question paper are major reforms made by NTA for the NEET UG re-exam on June 21. Candidates are advised to read the guidelines carefully available on the official NTA website before appearing for the exam.
NEET UG 2026: Checklist of Student-Friendly Measures Announced
Here are the major changes that NTA has announced for the June 21 re-test.
1. The medical examination will be held on June 21 from 2 pm to 5:15 PM, providing a total of 195 minutes. The additional 15 minutes are added to accommodate the invigilation formalities at the start and end of the examination, such as the signing requirements, which candidates earlier felt reduced their effective working time.
2. Additionally, NTA has doubled the number of pages provided to candidates for rough work. Instead of two, candidates will be provided with four pages for doing rough work, giving them additional space for calculations and reasoning.
3. Another significant change has been brought to the design of the question paper booklet. For the candidate’s convenience, two rough pages have been placed at the beginning, while the other two are attached at the end of the booklet. This has been done to support the left-handed candidates.
"The booklet now offers rough-work space at both the front and the back, allowing every candidate to work comfortably, and is especially helpful for left-handed candidates, who account for nearly 10% of all candidates," it said.
NEET UG 202 Exam Changes Made To Ensure Candidate’s Comfort
In the official notice, NTA has said that these measures have been made to impart a positive impact on lakhs of students amidst the high-stakes examination.
"NTA reaffirms its commitment to conducting NEET (UG) 2026 in a fair, secure and candidate-friendly manner, and to continuously improving the examination experience for the lakhs of aspirants who appear for it," it added.
NEET UG Re-Exam 2026 On June 21
The NEET re-exam will be conducted on June 21, 2026, at designated exam centres under strict surveillance. The exam will be held offline in pen and paper mode. Candidates are advised to read all the instructions thoroughly before appearing for the exam.
The NEET-UG for admissions into medical courses took place on May 3 this year but was cancelled by the NTA on May 12 amid allegations of a paper leak. The CBI is currently investigating this matter.
