Jharkhand School Holiday:  Schools in Jharkhand have been closed due to the impending Cyclonic Storm 'Arnab'. As part of precautionary measures, East Singhbhum has declared that all schools should cease classes for students between Nursery and Class 12. In addition, classes will remain suspended in Ranchi on October 28 and 29.

The Supreme authority in the state has declared this closure following the alert issued by the Indian Meteorological Department regarding expected heavy rainfall over the districts. Under the Disaster Management Act 2005, all authorities were ordered to shut classes for all students of different educational institutions.

East Singhbhum Shuts All Schools Under Disaster Management Act:

East Singhbhum SEB has directed all schools, both government and private, to shut classes. It means no classes will be held on October 28 and 29 at schools across the district. The order comes right after the Orange Zone alert from Ranchi for expected heavy rainfall with strong winds. According to the officials, this move was taken as a safety measure to prevent children from getting stuck on roads or under heavy waterlogging conditions, tree falls and electric hazards.

The decision follows the IMD Ranchi’s Orange Zone alert for the district, which warns of heavy to very heavy rainfall accompanied by squally winds and severe lightning spells. Officials described the move as a critical safety precaution, aimed at keeping children off the roads and away from waterlogged areas, falling trees and exposed electrical lines during the cyclonic disturbance.

Ranchi Follows Suit as Cyclonic Circulation Intensifies

In the state capital, all educational institutions from KG to Class 12 will remain closed on October 28 and 29 because of the cyclonic circulation ‘Arnab’, which is expected to bring heavy rain. The district administration issued the closure order under the Disaster Management Act to protect student safety.

Teachers on Duty, Exam Decisions Left to Private Schools

Although classroom teaching stays suspended, teachers and staff in all East Singhbhum schools must report to campus to carry out essential non-academic, emergency and administrative duties. Private schools that have scheduled examinations on these dates have been given the autonomy to decide on local postponement based on conditions in their areas.

Meanwhile, the administration is mobilising emergency response teams across Jamshedpur to tackle potential localised flooding and storm-related disruption. Officials have asked citizens to stay alert, cooperate with response teams and rely only on verified updates from the district administration and the IMD.
