Big Changes In UP Board Exam 2026-27: The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) Board has changed the high school examination system, eliminating school-level internal assessments in science and home science. Now, 30 marks in both subjects will be awarded based on practical exams.
The examiners appointed by the Board will take the practical exam, and only the marks given by them will be recorded in the mark sheet. The new system has been implemented from this session. With this, students will no longer have to depend on school-level evaluation for marks in these subjects.

Earlier System Abolished
Earlier, practical work of all subjects in high school was evaluated at school level. For this, a five-point scale grading system was in place, and the grade obtained was recorded in the mark sheet. Now this system has been abolished in science and home science. In both subjects, a separate practical exam of 30 marks will be conducted by the Board. However, internal evaluation in other subjects will continue as before.
Less Scope for Arbitrariness
The new system will also reduce the scope for arbitrary marking during internal school evaluations. To earn 30 marks, students will have to perform well in practical exams before the examiner.
20,000 Students to Appear
Approximately 20,000 students taking high school exams in the district will have to take practical exams in science and home science.
Principals Informed
District School Inspector Vinod Kumar Mishra stated that there will no longer be internal assessment for science and home science in high school. Practical exams for both subjects, each carrying 30 marks, will be conducted by an examiner. All principals have been informed of the new system.
