Odisha School Holiday 2026: In response to the IMD alerts for heavy rains and severe weather, Odisha district authorities have closed schools and educational institutions on July 31, 2026, located in the most prone areas across the state. This decision applies to all primary, upper primary, high schools, higher secondary institutions, government, government-aided, Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas (OAVs), and private schools in the state.
Following the prediction of incessant rainfall, Odisha is grappling with widespread flood impacts triggered by deep depressions. To ensure the safety of students and teaching staff, school closures have been ordered amid the evolving weather conditions.
Schools Remain Closed In These Areas
Jajpur, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, and Khordha have ordered school closures on July 31 considering the severe weather conditions. Additionally, school authorities have been asked to prepare the building for any emergency use. Administrations and principals have been asked to roster duties to keep the facilities operational in case any assistance is required by the district administration.
Midday Meals Were Served Early
Since the school closure was announced, the District Project Coordinator Sonamika Ray, through the District Project Office of Samagra Shiksha, ordered all Block Education Officers to make sure that the Midday meals were served early today and the students must go to their homes by 1 PM. However, teachers, headmasters, and principals have to remain on duty with no casual leave permitted for the next four days.
Students And Parents Should Follow Official Advisories
Residents in these flood-prone areas must follow the administrative advisories and avoid unnecessary travel during the next few days. Students and parents must remain indoors and keep their emergency kit ready. Refrain from going to any low-lying areas. It is recommended to keep track of the IMD alerts in your region and diligently follow the stated advisories.
