J&K School Holidays: The Jammu and Kashmir Government has extended the school holidays till July 26 due to the widespread rainfall across the state. Keeping students’ safety as a priority, the Education Minister, Sakina Itoo, announced the extension of the school closures. However, the current extension will only apply to all schools in the Summer Zones of Jammu Division. The schools will reopen on July 27, 2026. For the schools in the Kashmir Division and the Winter Zones of Jammu Division, the extension was announced earlier. Furthermore, the Minister has appealed to the residents to remain cautious and follow the IMD alerts.
Schools Closed Due To Heavy Rains
Through the official post on X, the Education Minister has said that the decision was taken keeping in mind the prevailing weather conditions. The safety and well-being of the students, teachers, and their families are paramount to the Government and all necessary measures must be taken to keep them safe.
She further asked all the residents to stay safe and follow the weather conditions and guidelines issued by the IMD and concerned authorities. "I request everyone to stay safe, remain vigilant and follow the advisories issued by the concerned authorities. Wishing everyone good health and safety."

No School Closures In Himachal Pradesh And Uttarakhand Yet
The Government and Educational Department of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have not announced any school holiday despite IMD alerts for heavy rains. Students and parents must remain in contact with the respective school authorities for any updates related to school closure. Based on the local weather conditions, state governments and local authorities will take decisions on whether to close schools or not. Till any official announcement is made, students are advised to rely only on official updates given by the district authorities.
