Prabhas 'Adipurush' created tons of buzz ahead of its release, where the film finally hit the theaters on June 16 after receiving tons of controversial pushes and cuts. However, soon after its release, the film again brewed controversy for its cringe dialogue, illogical facts, and poor VFX which let down the audience and now have started the backlash and boycott trend in Bollywood.
Amid the criticism, actor Sunil Lehri, who is best known for his role as Lakshman in Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayan' series has given negative reviews to 'Adipurush' and has greatly criticized the film. He shared his disappointment on Instagram and also raised several questions about the dress and action-scenes of the characters which goes against Indian culture.
Calling out the poor VFX skills and terrible dialogue, the actor said, "I had high expectations from Adipurush that I will get to see something different but it is very disappointing. You can't play with your culture in the name of doing something different, especially those who are our own. The characters are not defined. The audience doesn't find any emotional attachment to the scenes. The dialogues are also very bekaar (poor)."
He further added, "Can you imagine Hanumanji saying dialogues like 'tel tere baap ka, kapda tere baap ka'? Or Meghnad will say, 'abey chal nikal le'? Or Raavan will come on a bat instead of Pushpak Viman? Or Meghnad and Lakshman will fight underwater? I am very sorry but I never expected this from a filmmaker of this caliber."
A longer version of the actor's video is available on YouTube where he can be further seen saying, "We know what our culture is. You have played with the emotions of the public, the citizens of our country. You should feel sorry for this."
On the other hand, Dipika Chikhlia essayed the role of Sita in the same serial, took to her Instagram, and shared a video dressed as Sita, as she donned the avatar again as a wish of her fans.
Taking the video to her Instagram, she wrote "This post is on public demand… I am grateful for the love I have always received for the role I played… Me as Sita ji…could not have asked for more…"
Soon, fans took over the comment section and compared her to Kriti Sanon, where one social media user wrote, "600 crore times better than Kriti Sanon." Another wrote, "This one reel of Sita ji can give tough competition to the whole Adipurush film."
Last month, Kriti Sanon was spotted kissing Om Raut goodbye outside the Tirupati temple where actor Dipika shared her displeasure over the incident and said that Kriti Sanon might have not thought of herself dwelling inside the role of Sita for the film.
Meanwhile, 'Adipurush' has already crossed Rs 340 crore mark worldwide and is running strong at the box office. The film features Prabhas as Lord Raghav, Kriti Sanon as Janaki Sita, Saif Ali Khan as Lankesh, Sunny Singh as Lakshman, and Devdutt Nage as Bajrang.
