In his final statement to the court on April 12, 2023, Sooraj Pancholi had said that he had been booked in a false case and that he was the victim of a false prosecution and persecution.

In that statement, he said he had broken down when he heard about Jiah’s death and said, “I had lost the most important person of my life and the woman whom I truly loved.”

In his statement under Section 313 of the CrPC, Sooraj Pancholi answered 558 questions and denied he was responsible for Jiah Khan’s death. The actor also claimed a false case was foisted on him at Rabia’s behest.

The forensic analysis of Sooraj Pancholi's statements, which were a part of the CBI's chargesheet, "established that Sooraj was concealing relevant information about the actual reason behind the incident and the statement given by him is incomplete and fabricated."

The prosecution examined 22 witnesses in the Jiah Khan death case. It is the prosecution’s case that Jiah had left Pancholi’s house on the morning of her alleged suicide on June 3, 2023. The CBI claimed Pancholi had hidden facts and fabricated information during his questioning.

"Due to paucity of evidence, this court can't hold you (Sooraj Pancholi) guilty, hence acquitted," says Judge AS Sayyed of special CBI court in Mumbai.

According to reports, Jiah Khan's family lawyer has made a last minute submission. Sooraj Pancholi's lawyer objected to the same, however, the Special CBI court allowed Jiah Khan's lawyer to make their submission.

According to reports, Jiah Khan was at one point, pregnant. The actor told Sooraj Pancholi about her 4 months-pregnancy when Sooraj told her to abort the child.

Prashant Patil, the advocate of Sooraj Pancholi says the verdict for Jiah Khan death case will be out by 11:30 AM. The advocate added that 22 witnesses in the case spoke against Jiah Khan's abetting theory.

Ahead of the verdict in Jiah Khan death case, a family member os Sooraj Pancholi told ETimes, "Going by the merits of the case, the entire family is positive. But we are also anxious about the verdict which is slated to come out on April 28 in the Special CBI Court number 52."

According to PTI, Rabia Khan revealed that Jiah Khan and Sooraj Pancholi met in 2012. "At that time she sent some pictures… to me it looked like they clicked and had mutual interest… However, in September she (Jiah) told me they were just friends."

Jiah Khan's mother added that her daughter's daily routine was ‘taken over’ by Sooraj, and by October 2012, the two had started living at each other's house.

Reportedly, Sooraj Pancholi started dating Jiah Khan in September 2012 and made their relationship work after hitting a rough patch in December of that year. The duo were dating till the time of the late actor's death in June 2013.

Last week, special CBI Judge AS Sayyad, after hearing the final arguments of both sides, reserved his judgment in the case for April 28. The verdict is likely to be out today.

In the six-page letter allegedly written by Jiah Khan, which was found days after her death, the late actor detailed her "intimate relationship, physical abuse, and mental and physical torture" that she reportedly endured at the hands of Sooraj Pancholi which ultimately drove to her death.

Speaking to ANI, Jiah Khan's mother Rabia Khan said, "We have spent 10 years exposing the truth based on factual evidence. Now, it is up to the court to draw the right conclusions."

In an earlier interview with IANS, Sooraj Pancholi said that no one heard his side of the story. "Not even five per cent of what the media has written about me till date is true. They have heard the story only from one side. They have never heard my version, because I never claimed I am innocent to gain people’s sympathy," the actor had said at the time.

"We’ve waited for ten years for the vedict. It has been hell for our son. All this time we’ve believed that the Almighty would do justice to our son," says Sooraj Pancholi's mother, Zarina Wahab ahead of Jiah Khan death case verdict.

Reportedly, Judge AS Sayyad will pronounce verdict in Jiah Khan suicide case at 10.30 am today.

Sooraj Pancholi was arrested on June 11, 2023 on charges of abetment to suicide. The actor’s bail application was rejected on June 21.

"I don't know how to say this to you but I might as well now as I have nothing to lose. I've already lost everything. If you're reading this I might have already left or about to leave. I am broken inside. You may not have known this but you affected me deeply to a point where I lost myself in loving you. Yet you tortured me everyday," excerpts from Jiah Khan's 6-page long last letter as reported by India Today.
