Kpop group BTS is currently on a hiatus to complete their mandatory military service and focus on their solo projects. Amid their absence from the limelight, the group has been involved in some controversies and their agency HYBE has been accused of doing chart-rigging practices. As per recent reports, South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism will soon order an investigation into this case.
According to a report by Korea JoongAng Daily, South Korea's Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism revealed that it received a petition to investigate why HYBE was blackmailed for chart rigging practices and paid off the blackmailers in 2017. The case will reportedly be handled by the Korea Creative Content Agency (Kocca).
BTS fans have taken to the internet to show their support towards the Kpop group.
Earlier, BigHit Music released an official statement and revealed it has taken strict action against these false accusations. The statement by BigHit Music reads, "Hello. This is BIGHIT MUSIC. We wish to update you on the status of legal measures taken to protect BTS members against violation of their rights. We would like to clarify that the recent allegations of hoarding, concept plagiarism, and affiliations with Dahnworld or any religious cults are completely false. The company has decided that the recent movement spreading false rumors and information has become excessive, and announced previously that a separate law firm would be engaged to address these matters decisively."
The company concluded, "We extend our deepest apologies to the fans of BTS for the distress you have experienced in recent weeks. We are committed to taking all necessary actions to protect our artists' rights. Thank you for your unwavering love and support for BTS. On the work front, BTS' leader RM will soon release his new album 'Right Place, Wrong Person'.
