About Emergency
The movie takes place between 1975 and 1977, a 21-month period during which former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi declared a state of emergency across the country.
Shreyas Talpade plays Atal Bihari Vajpayee, while Milind Soman plays Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw. Vishak Nair plays the role of Sanjay Gandhi, while Mahima Chaudhry plays Pupul Jayakar.
Kangana Ranaut previously criticised the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee's (SGPC) decision. The group has demanded that emergency measures be prohibited in many Punjabi regions. Several theatres in Ludhiana, Amritsar, Patiala, and Bathinda decided not to show Emergency when SGPC members objected. Police were stationed outside theatres and shopping centres throughout the state to keep the peace.
