The much-awaited high octane action thriller film Kabzaa is all set to hit the theaters this week. Featuring an array of actors including Upendra Rao, Shriya Saran, Kiccha Sudeep, Jagapathi Babu, Prakash Raj and Samuthirakani, the film has been helmed by R. Chandru.
Reportedly, the OTT rights of Kabzaa have already been sold to a leading digital streaming platform for a jaw-dropping amount. Kabzaa OTT rights have been sold to Amazon Prime Video for a whopping sum of Rs 140 crore.
Kabzaa will be released in theaters on March 17, 2023 in five languages, including Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam. The film will be released in over 4,000 screens worldwide.
Kabzaa is touted to be a period drama film narrating the story of gangsters in India, set between 1942 to 1984 and revolves around a freedom fighter’s son who gets trapped in the mafia world.
Speaking about her role in the film, Shriya Saran shared her thoughts and said, “Many thoughts came in like what will be my role among so many heroes in the film, will I have any role or not.”
“When director R Chandru was narrating the story to me, after seeing the passion and dedication in his eyes, it showed that this film is larger than life. When I was doing Kathak in this film, I was like perfect. I really wanted to be part of his vision and I am glad I am part of it,” the Drishyam star added.
“It is a good thing that the country is connected through entertainment. I belong to the time of Doordarshan and now everything has become one i.e., Pan India,” Shriya Saran added.
Anand Pandit, who will be distributing the film in Hindi, recently said “The film is a fictional story of the underworld and is not inspired by any underworld don. The film ‘Kabzaa’ is a period film that depicts the period of Independence. Underworld is one such subject which has a very good strike rate at the box office.”
