Lyricist Manoj Muntashir noted that he has repeatedly apologised to Lord Ram's devotees for his missteps in Om Raut’s Adipurush (2023) and was forgiven.
Manoj Muntashir urges audience to not question Adipurush's music
While comparing the Prabhas-starrer with Ranbir Kapoor's upcoming Ramayana Part 1, he urged audiences not to question the film's music, insisting the songs were created with 'shraddha, samarpan aur kavitt'.
Manoj Muntashir wrote on X, "Manoj Muntashir wala kaarnama? Badi jahilon jaisi baat ki hai desh ke swayamghoshit sarvashreshth news channel ne. Mere bhai, kaash Ramayan ke geeton mein mera wala kaarnama dohraya jaata."
(Manoj Muntashir’s achievement? The country’s self-proclaimed best news channel has said something utterly ignorant. My brother, I wish the same achievement of mine had been repeated in the songs of the Ramayana.)
Manoj Muntashir says 'Adipuush bahut kharab film thi'
The lyricist further added, "Aadipurush bahut kharaab film thi, samvaad aur bhi kharaab the, lekin geet toh desh ka bachcha-bachcha gaata hai. Kabhi jaiye Shri Ayodhyapuri, gali-gali mein Aadipurush ke hi geet baj rahe hote hain."
(Adipurush was a very bad film and the dialogues were even worse, but every child in the country sings its songs. Just visit Ayodhyapuri sometime; the songs from Adipurush can be heard playing in every street.)
He stated that while he had repeatedly apologised to Lord Ram's devotees for his mistakes in Adipurush and received their forgiveness, people should not question the film's songs, defending them as works of genuine devotion and poetic craft rather than nursery rhymes or qawwalis, adding that audiences were perceptive enough to gauge everyone's true caliber.
Adipurush hit the theatres in 2023 and it turned out to be a box office bomb. The film, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali Khan in pivotal roles, received negative reviews frothe audience and critics alike.
