Kalyan Padala is a commoner who entered the Bigg Boss Telugu 9 house. Hailing from a middle-class family in Andhra Pradesh, he is an officer in the Indian Army. Kalyan rose to fame after appearing in Bigg Boss Agnipariksha, and his gameplay secured a spot as a first finalist in Bigg Boss Telugu 9. He is now among the top 2 finalists.

This season's concept revolved around a double house, which eventually became one, with the Owners competing against Tenants. A total of 15 contestants, including 9 celebrities and 6 commoners, entered the Bigg Boss Telugu 9 house. This was the first time that commoners were allowed to compete alongside celebrities.
The BB Telugu 9 winner received a cash prize of around Rs 35 Lakh. Originally, the prize money was Rs 50 Lakh. However, it was reduced to Rs 35 Lakh after Demon Pavan chose to take home Rs 15 Lakh.

Following the evictions of Sanjana and Emmanuel, Demon Pawan became the second runner-up of the season. In a suspenseful silver briefcase twist, the top 3 were given the option to take a cash box worth Rs 15 lakhs, which was introduced by actor Ravi Teja inside the house. Pawan made a smart move and opted for the briefcase and walked out as the second runner-up with cash of Rs 15 lakhs. Later, it was revealed that he would have been the next contestant to be evicted based on the public voting.
