Bollywood has announced several exciting sequels over the years, creating huge excitement among fans. While some even began production, many never made it to the big screen due to script changes, box office failures, budget issues, or creative differences. From Munna Bhai Chale Amerika to Ra.One 2, here are seven much-awaited Bollywood sequels that were officially announced but were eventually shelved, leaving fans wondering what could have been.

1. Munna Bhai Chale Amerika

Following the massive success of Lage Raho Munna Bhai’s (2006), the makers announced Munna Bhai Chale Amerika. Arshad Warsi would play Circuit again, and Sanjay Dutt would return as Munna Bhai. However, the movie's plot was deemed too similar to My Name Is Khan (2010), which also featured a trip to visit the US president, therefore, it was cancelled. Even the teaser were released but unfortunatelt it never happened.

2. Chandni Chowk to Africa

Chandni Chowk to Africa was supposed to be a sequel to Chandni Chowk to China (2009). It was anticipated that Deepika Padukone would play Sakhi and Akshay Kumar would return as Sidhu. But since the first movie didn't do well at the box office, the project was abandoned.

3. Dostana 2

Dharma Productions announced Dostana 2, starring Kartik Aaryan, Janhvi Kapoor, and Lakshya, following the success of Dostana (2008). After Kartik Aaryan left the project due to alleged creative disagreements with the producers, the movie was ultimately scrapped even though filming had begun.

4. Jagga Jasoos 2

A sequel with Ranbir Kapoor as Jagga and Katrina Kaif as Shruti was hinted at in the conclusion of Jagga Jasoos (2017). However, the first movie's box office failure and significant financial losses forced the producers to abandon plans for the sequel.

5. Ra.One 2

Following the release of Ra.One (2011), there were plans to continue the superhero story with Shah Rukh Khan returning as Shekhar Subramanium and G.One. Despite several discussions, the sequel never moved ahead because of script challenges and its high production cost.

6. Go Goa Gone 2

The makers of Go Goa Gone (2013) announced a follow-up that was anticipated to include an alien invasion. Alongside the original cast, Saif Ali Khan was scheduled to return as Boris. However, once Saif sold his producing rights and left the franchise, the project remained stalled.

7. Aabra Ka Daabra 2

Following Aabra Ka Daabra (2004), the makers planned to turn the fantasy film into a children's franchise with a sequel. Athit Naik was expected to continue as the young magician Rahul. However, the project was eventually cancelled due to a lack of funding and producer support.
