BTS' V changed the famous words 'ice tea and a game of ping pong' to 'ice tea and a game of football'.Jungkook also made a fun change to the wording. Instead of singing 'kick the drum', he sang 'kick the ball', earning a huge reaction from the crowd and adding to the football-themed performance.

How BTS Created History Again?
For nearly a century, the FIFA World Cup final followed the same halftime tradition. The 15-minute break was meant for players to return to the dressing room, discuss strategy and prepare for the second half. That changed on July 19, 2026, when the World Cup final featured its first-ever halftime show.
The performance became even more memorable because of BTS. In 2022, Jungkook represented the group by performing Dreamers at the FIFA World Cup opening ceremony in Qatar. Four years later, BTS returned to the World Cup stage as a complete seven-member group for the historic halftime show.
BTS delivered a high-energy show despite the performance lasting only about 1 minute and 45 seconds. The group had very little time to rehearse as they were already busy with their Arirang world tour for their latest album.
For the unversed, BTS had been performing in Paris as part of their Arirang tour before arriving in New York. The members travelled directly from France to the United States to take the stage at the FIFA World Cup 2026 final halftime show.
